CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT RDC chose over a decade ago to develop our management system using international standards as tools and guides to best practice. Operating to the requirements of the international standards provides a means of facilitating the continuous review and improvement of RDC’s award winning services, policies and procedures to continue to meet and exceed customer’s requirements.
ISO 9001 was chosen by RDC as the basis for our management system. Certification to the international quality standard demonstrates to a world stage that the company is in control of its processes and procedures and is committed to continual improvement to meet customer requirements. RDC is now certified to ISO 9001:2008 having been first certified to ISO 9002:1994 in December 2000.
ISO 14001 was selected by RDC as this international standard sets out minimum requirements for implementing and maintaining an Environmental Management System (EMS). Certification demonstrates that RDC has assessed the environmental aspects of its operations and is committed to monitoring, controlling and improving environmental performance.
OHSAS 18001 was selected by RDC as this standard sets out best practice for the management and control of health and safety at work. Certification demonstrates that RDC is committed to review and improve the safety of people working in and with the company.
PAS 99 is used by RDC to assess the integrated quality, environment and safety aspects of the RDC integrated management system (QES IMS). RDC were the third organisation to be successfully certified by the BSI as operating a QES IMS in July 2004.
ISO 27001 is the international information security management system standard. Although integrated within RDC’s IMS, the means of assessing ISO 27001 as compliant with PAS 99 do not yet exist. RDC are now ahead of the field and will maintain separate certification to this standard until such systems are developed by the BSI or another accredited certification body.
BSI Certification to these standards was chosen by RDC as the BSI are one of the world’s leading independent accredited assessment organisations. Certification permits use of the BSI kitemark to reassure RDC customers that RDC has the processes and procedures in place to deliver services in a quality, environmentally responsible, safe and secure manner.
RDC was granted a second prestigious Queens Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development in April 2009. Having already been granted a Queens Award for Enterprise in 2002 for Innovation for our IT Asset Management model, the Sustainable Development award saw RDC as one of only ten winners from 170 applicants from the whole of the UK – a testament to the continued market leading best practices RDC maintain. The Queens Award Office described RDC as providing “...an exemplar benchmark for commercially successful, sustainable business operations”.
RDC has also been recognised by industry peers. In June 2009, following nominations from BT and the Environment agency and voted for publicly, RDC won Environmental Company of the year at the Microscope Awards for Channel Excellence (ACEs).
